United may consider merger talks with Continental

United Airlines may hold merger negotiations with Continental Airlines if it does not reach a merger agreement with Delta Air Lines, according to media reports. It has been widely reported that Delta is in talks with United and Northwest Airlines. "Our position has always been that we control our decisions; no one makes them for us," United CEO Glenn Tilton told employees. "The advantage of our situation is that we have choices that we continue to consider with our board."
