Portland mayor now says he was involved with 18-year-old

Out Portland Mayor Sam Adams, 45, who was elected in November, has acknowledged having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male in 2005. Adams, who denied at the start of his campaign in 2007 that there had been any such relationship, planned to return to Portland early from a trip to Washington, D.C., for the presidential inauguration to apologize publicly. "I lied at the time because I was afraid that people would believe untrue rumors being circulated by an undeclared mayoral opponent that I had broken a law involving sexual relations with a minor. But this is not a good excuse," Adams said in a statement.
