Stimulus package will not hit economy quickly

Funds from the $825 billion economic stimulus package may not reach the economy for several years, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office. Only $26 billion, or 7% of the $274 billion in infrastructure spending, would reach the economy by the end of the 2009 fiscal year on Sept. 30, and less than $4 billion slated for highway construction money would make it by September 2010. The fastest part of the stimulus package would be the $275 billion in tax cuts that could take effect this year.
