Teachers union sues district over schedule

After the superintendent of Florida's Pinellas County schools ignored an arbitrator's Nov. 26 order to halt a seven-period school day that the local teachers union says violates its contract, the union on Tuesday sued the district in an attempt to return to the former six-period day, which is 14 minutes shorter. District leaders said the change would be too disruptive to students.
