Thalassemia awareness increasing in India

Experts say the increase in the number of people in India reported with thalassemia -- an inherited blood disease -- over the last few years can be attributed to a growing public awareness. Several nongovernment groups continue to organize regular thalassemia tests as well as blood donation campaigns involving the academic and business sectors across the country.
