Delta Air Lines and American Airlines are engaged in a battle over partnering with troubled Japan Airlines, but the real goal is not JAL, but rather its assets, particularly premium passengers and Asian routes. Delta and American will continue pursuing the airline despite its bankruptcy filing this week.
