Comet, Darty France see diverging fortunes over holidays

Comet, the UK electricals retailer owned by Kesa, suffered declining sales between Nov. 1 and Jan. 8, while Darty France, which is also owned by Kesa, said same-store sales jumped 3.6% while total sales surged 4.6%. Rival DSG International, which owns Currys and PC World, said UK sales of electricals climbed 8% on a like-for-like basis. John Lewis' electricals unit also performed well during the holiday period.
