Employment is the key to a commercial real estate recovery, said Kenneth Laub, CEO of Kenneth D. Laub & Co. "Opportunities will come when unemployment stabilizes," he said. In the past, the boom and bust in commercial property was driven by oversupply, Laub said. "We didn't have a credit crisis," he said. This downturn is different from the ones that came before, and it will take longer for commercial real estate to come back than before, he said.
