Rising imports at nation's ports hint at turnaround

The nation's ports are showing signs of a turnaround with imports on the rise. The Port of Long Beach, Calif., in December reported 232,586 20-foot equivalent units of imported cargo, a 13% increase over December 2008 volume and the first cargo gain in more than two years. At Georgia ports, loaded imports were up 7% in December from the year before.
