BLM pulls proposed fracking regulations

The Bureau of Land Management has withdrawn proposed rules covering hydraulic fracturing on federal lands. A new draft is expected before April after "making improvements ... in order to maximize flexibility, facilitate coordination with state practices and ensure that operators on public lands implement best practices," said Blake Androff, a spokesman for the Department of the Interior. "[T]he real test will be in the substance of the re-proposal," said Jack Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute.
