Huawei Technologies outperformed its fellow Chinese rival ZTE last year amid slowing growth and rising competition in the global telecom equipment market. ZTE said, however, that it might break into the black in the first quarter after swinging to a loss last year. Huawei expects to report stronger 2012 profit but noted that revenue will rise by 8%, which is about half of the growth rate it had predicted earlier. Huawei's chief financial officer also said the company held an "open mind" about going public.
