Retractable roof experience could give builder an edge on stadium

Familiarity with a retractable roof is one of the requirements the Minnesota Vikings football team is looking for in the company it hires to build a $975 million stadium. The arena is expected to have a fixed roof, but the team would like it to have a retractable roof and wall if it can fit in the budget, said Michele Kelm-Helgen, chairwoman of the stadium authority. The companies' final proposals are due today, and the choice will be announced early February.
