RFA's Dinneen: Anti-ethanol op-ed does not hold up to scrutiny

An op-ed by Mark J. Perry, who teaches economics at the University of Michigan-Flint, contained misleading statements about E15 and the U.S. ethanol industry, writes Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. Perry claims that E15 corrodes engine parts, but extensive testing coordinated by the Department of Energy has determined E15 is safe to use in vehicle model years 2001 and later, Dinneen writes. Also, U.S. ethanol production does not use corn intended for human consumption and utilizes just 3% of global grain stocks, he writes.
