Diabetes patients on insulin show higher death, MI rates after TAVR

Data on patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement showed those with insulin-treated diabetes had a 33.3% mortality rate at a follow-up of slightly more than one year, compared with 18.6% in the nondiabetes arm. Researchers also found the rate of myocardial infarction during the same period was 8.3% in insulin-treated patients but only 1.4% in those without diabetes. The findings appear in the American Journal of Cardiology.
