Juice-makers seek co-packing services to cut costs

HPP Food Services, a high pressure processor of cold-pressed juices, is seeing increasing demand for contract production and co-packing services through its recently-acquired Calpack Foods business. The company's organic juice business, which offers cold-pressing, juicing and filling services, is gaining traction with entrepreneurs and small to mid-size juice brands that want to cut costs. "What we’ve found is that most companies have come to us and ended up saving money. We've been able to do it cheaper than they have, for sure, because we have all of the equipment and can allocate the overhead among more than one customer," President Susan Ricci said.
