Adding oatstraw or nettle to oatmeal and tea could be beneficial to those who have seasonal affective disorder, says Marita Orr, an herbalist from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Regular massages can also be a useful way to alleviate symptoms of the winter blahs. In addition, acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist Detlef F. Wolf said acupuncture was helpful in treating the condition. "Some people may not be able to process Vitamin D properly because of blockages in the body so I will put needles in corresponding places if they have depression, headaches or insomnia," Wolf said
