Target alerts Canadians who shopped its US stores

Canadian shoppers who crossed the border to shop at US Target stores were alerted to the fact that their personal information may have been stolen in the recent massive theft. Target said shoppers at its stores in Canada were not affected by the theft because they use a different point-of-sale payment system than stores south of the border. "We have started to contact affected guests directly to let them know that we are offering free, one-year credit monitoring for impacted Canadian guests, as well as tips to guard against consumer scams," said spokeswoman Lisa Gibson.
