Layoffs coming to Yahoo!, reports say

Yahoo! plans to eliminate hundreds of jobs as part of a new strategy to compete against Google and rivals in the social-networking space, including Facebook and MySpace. It's not clear where the cuts will be made, but there have been hints from co-founder and CEO Jerry Yang that Yahoo! will move to eliminate or deemphasize unprofitable services, including its auctions platform and its social network, Yahoo! 360.
