Consumers snap up ex-display items from electronics stores

Some consumer-electronics retail giants, including Joshin Denki, Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera, have opened special locations to sell display items and older products at discounts. Consumers willing to put in the time can be rewarded with bargains. "If customers visit our shop frequently, they might make a lucky find, such as a plasma TV with a 40-inch-plus display for less than 150,000 yen," said Katsumi Fujio, manager at Outlet Urayasu Shop, which is affiliated with Joshin Denki.
