Syngenta positive about biotech corn's prospects for EU approval

A Syngenta spokesman said the company is hopeful that the EU will approve its biotech corn BT-11 at a meeting scheduled for Feb. 25. The statement comes after the European Commission supported the cultivation of BT-11 as well as another strain from a joint venture between Pioneer Hi-Bred International and Mycogen Seeds. Syngenta plans to market the crop to European farmers for spring 2010, should it get clearance.
