Charges against ex-Marsh & McLennan workers are downgraded

A New York judge allowed former employees of Marsh & McLennan Cos. and Zurich Financial Services AG to switch their guilty pleas in an insurance bid-rigging case. State Supreme Court Justice James Yates allowed the employees, who were accused of participating in a scheme to defraud, to switch their pleas from felonies to misdemeanors. The judge also dismissed charges against six other defendants who earlier had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges associated with bid-rigging allegations.
