Covidien will cut production of generators

Covidien has announced that because of the shutdowns of the five major isotope-producing reactors at various times, it will cease generator production in the Americas from March 21 to 25 and from March 20 to 23 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "The remainder of March will be only marginally better, with no more than 20% of needed Mo-99 supply expected," the company said. Covidien said it will distribute on-hand generators appropriately and is urging clinicians to implement isotope-conservation initiatives.
