IAB urges Senate to curb FTC authority

The IAB and other ad groups wrote to the Senate Commerce Committee to express concern over the amount of authority to be allotted to the Federal Trade Commission in its reauthorization this year. The FTC is seeking to streamline its rule-making process and to be allowed to penalize businesses for unfair practices. "These provisions grant such sweeping powers that the FTC could essentially act as an unelected legislature governing industries and sectors across the economy," the letter warned.
