Indianapolis airport authority buys land for future expansion

The Indianapolis Airport Authority has purchased 28 acres of farmland next to Hendricks County Airport to allow for future expansion. The airport is one of several reliever airports in the region to serve as an alternative to Indianapolis International Airport for small airplanes, and a 20-year master plan envisions that the current 9,000 takeoffs and landings a year could grow to 25,000 flight operations a year.
