Miss. groups lobby to require prescription for some cold drugs

Several groups and law-enforcement officials asked Mississippi lawmakers to introduce legislation that would classify cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine as prescription drugs to curb substance abuse. Pseudoephedrine is the active ingredient in methamphetamine, which was involved in 981 arrests in the state last year, said Marshall Fisher, head of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
