Natural-gas drilling technique raises pollution concerns

A drilling technique for natural gas has caused a backlash over concerns it may pollute water supplies. Hydraulic fracturing injects millions of gallons of water into the ground to crack shale to release trapped natural gas. Exxon spokeswoman Cynthia Bergman said the drilling technique, also known as "fracking," is "safe and effective."
