Obama plans to propose limits on size of banks

President Barack Obama is expected to announce today a proposal to limit the size and risk taken by major financial institutions. The move could be a return to some of the restrictions instituted during the Great Depression, administration officials and congressional sources said. If Congress approves the plan, banks will be prevented from becoming so large that they threaten the broader economy and distort competitive forces.
