Senate panel will consider creating national infrastructure bank

Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., chairman of the Senate banking committee, said the panel will hold a hearing in February to consider the establishment of a national infrastructure bank. Dodd joined proponents of the plan to urge the Obama administration and Congress to develop the bank, which they said would create jobs and help the country's infrastructure. "America needs a variety of methods -- action by the government and private sector, current and new revenues, and federal leadership and local innovation -- to repair and modernize our nation's infrastructure," said Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell.
