Study finds big health gains with minimal salt restrictions

Cutting salt intake by just half a teaspoon a day could dramatically cut the incidence of stroke, heart disease and death in U.S. adults, scientists say. The researchers, who used a computer model and previously published data, said the health benefits are similar to a 50% drop in smoking and a 5% drop in body mass index among obese adults.
