Diabetes speeds cognitive decline in middle-aged patients

Data on 1,290 middle-aged participants found those with type 2 diabetes showed greater decline in information-processing speed, delayed word recall and executive function at 12 years compared with those who did not have diabetes. Diabetes duration also appeared to contribute to cognitive decline in patients, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
