Google's maternity-leave policy has reduced attrition, HR chief says

Google gives new mothers five months of maternity leave with full pay and benefits and lets them divide their time off however they wish. Since Google implemented the maternity-leave policy, the attrition rate among new mothers has decreased by half, HR chief Laszlo Bock says. The policy is a result of Google's efforts to use empirical data about worker satisfaction while crafting workplace policies, Farhad Manjoo writes.
