GOP bill would suspend debt ceiling temporarily

In a shift in the debt-ceiling debate, House Republicans have released a bill that would suspend the U.S. debt ceiling through May 18. The move is meant to pressure Senate Democrats to pass a budget with lower spending. Democratic leaders say they will pass a budget this year, for the first time in four years, and that it will have tax-code changes that bring in new revenues.
