Colleges step up efforts to improve student employment

St. Lawrence University in New York and Northland College in Wisconsin are offering students and recent graduates the option of participating in new career services programs. Some career services officers say they want to see such programs integrated into academics. "That would be moving us squarely away from the current model that says, 'Come get this if you want it, come get this if you need it, come get this if you can squeeze it in,'" said Kelley Bishop, director of the University of Maryland career center.
