Municipalities near Lake Tahoe weigh ban on plastic bags

Following the lead of Truckee, Calif., which has banned single-use plastic bags at grocers and food vendors, Nevada City, Grass Valley and Nevada County are considering a similar move. South Lake Tahoe also restricts plastic bags. Some retailers have stopped using plastic bags or have come out in support of a ban. "It's really not that big of a deal," Nevada City City Manager David Brennan said. "I have reusable bags. I just need to remember to bring them with me. But I bet it would only take [forgetting them without the option of plastic bags] once for me to learn."
