Verizon buys Intel Media in "next-generation" TV push

Verizon Communications is bulking up its TV capabilities with the purchase of Intel Media, which created technology to deliver Internet-based TV content to any device. Verizon is seen as having a better chance to succeed with the technology than Intel because it already has a relationship with cable channel owners. The purchase will "help Verizon bring next-generation video services to audiences who increasingly expect to view content when, where and how they want it," said Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam.
