Citrus growers battle low-carb diet craze

Facing decreased sales figures brought on by the popularity of low-carb diets, such as the South Beach and Atkins diets, Florida's Citrus Department is launching a marketing campaign aimed at bringing consumers back to orange and grapefruit juices. While the diets urge people to avoid the juices because of high levels of fructose, the grapefruit industry is highlighting a recent study by Scripps Institute of San Diego that found grapefruit promotes weight loss.
