Editorial: Stem cell scandal not about the science

A backlash against stem cell research as a result of the South Korean research scandal could cause prospective research donors to have second thoughts, lead the Senate to squelch pending stem cell legislation and chase scientists from the field, according to an editorial in the Chicago Tribune. Such a reaction would be "an enormous shame" because the research has much promise and the scandal is about the researchers, not the entire field of science, the newspaper said.
