Bigger role in infrastructure projects urged for private sector

State governments should consider giving private investors a larger role in repairing the nation's aging roads and bridges, according to Ray LaHood, President Barack Obama's nominee to lead the Department of Transportation. LaHood said that worsening federal and state deficits will make it more difficult for governments to fund the projects. "There's not going to be enough money," LaHood said at his Senate confirmation hearing. "I think we do have to think outside the box."
