Politicians, regulators and bank executives have been complaining about the lack of transparency and accountability in the way the U.S. Treasury decides which banks get money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Frustrated congressional and state officials are increasingly trying to influence the Treasury to help banks that they think were treated unfairly, and they seem to be having some success.
