Infrastructure funding is key for jobs, lawmakers say

President Barack Obama, various lawmakers and top lobbyists want billions of dollars for transportation and infrastructure projects to help reduce unemployment. The House has already passed a $155 billion measure to save and create jobs through direct federal spending and financing, including $48.3 billion for highways, transit and sewer and water upgrades. The Senate proposal will be unveiled in coming weeks.
