More building permits are issued, but housing starts decrease

Building-permit approvals for single-family homes increased 8.3% last month compared with November, according to the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department and the Census Bureau. During the same period, starts on single-family homes declined 6.9%. For privately owned units, the drop was 4%.
