Study: Stroke risk increases with obesity

A 19-year study of more than 13,500 Americans found an increased risk of stroke with each measure of obesity, such as body mass index, height-weight ratio and waist circumference. The study also noted a significantly higher risk among black men and black women, which scientists say could indicate a genetic factor.
