Some hospitals seeking to capture affluent, private-pay patients are offering lavish private suites complete with butlerlike concierge service, high-end menus and other amenities reminiscent of luxury hotels. The trend, which is prominent in the greater New York area but also is occurring around the country, also is aimed at tapping into the "medical tourism" trade.
