Students design, build scale-model green cities

Forty-six teams from 28 regional schools presented their scale models of green cities at the 2012 Great Plains Regional Future City Competition in Kansas. Future City, a competition sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, encourages middle school students to design and build green-city models. The theme is to focus on renewable energy sources and eco-friendly designs.
