House Republican leaders plan to pass debt-limit extension

Republican House leaders said they plan to pass a measure extending the U.S. debt limit by nearly four months. The extension would allow the government to borrow what it needs to meet its obligations up until May 19. Leading Democrats scrutinized the Republican plan. "I wish they'd stop playing games with the debt ceiling," said Assistant Senate Democratic leader Richard Durbin of Illinois.
