Why mobile is especially fertile ground for independent businesses

Independent businesses with their more intimate knowledge of customers can often take better advantage of mobile marketing than chains, said Maribel Lopez, founder of Lopez Research, at the FMI Midwinter Conference. Smaller businesses "are very good at picking up on something specific about what your customer base would like," Lopez said, noting that independent businesses could offer applications that might show how a product "relates to healthy living or new mothers, for example."
