South Korea will put $1.5B into 5G over 6 years

South Korea will pump $1.5 billion into 5G technology as it looks to develop a next-generation wireless network by 2020, the government disclosed this week following months of working with the country's carriers and vendors on the project. The government plans to begin trials within the next year or two with eye on demonstrating the technology at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, which would come two years before its planned commercial rollout.
