Historians get upper hand in rhetorical battle with social studies advocates

Low achievement on history exams has given an unexpected boost to the subject, which had been overshadowed by social studies. Ronald Evans, professor of social studies education at San Diego State University, says historians have "made a scapegoat out of social studies."
