Iowa issues warnings to low-performing schools

The Iowa Department of Education placed 50 school districts and 145 schools on a watch list for failing to make adequate academic gains over one year. Schools that fail to meet minimum proficiency standards after two straight years will face federal sanctions that include required tutoring and allowing students to transfer to better-performing schools.
