Tomatoes triple in value this season

The price of tomatoes has nearly tripled this winter due to Hurricane Wilma's late-season crop destruction and poor conditions in Mexico. In response, quickservice restaurants including Wendy's are offering tomatoes only if a customer requests them, while other restaurants are temporarily absorbing the costs. One wholesaler predicts tomato prices will drop by late February.
